Basics of Illustrative Portraits



Have you been wanting to learn the basics of how to create stylized portraits, but been too intimidated to start? This course is meant to help make portraits easier by breaking down the fundamentals of how to capture the human face and offer some tricks and tips.  

In this class, we will go over things like how to get facial features in the right place, how to tackle the planes of the face, how to create features that look accurate to your reference, how to draw hair, and how to create emotion in your portraits. 

This class is meant to give beginners a place to start and grow their skills with more confidence.

Students should bring or buy a sketchbook, an HB pencil, a 2B pencil, a 4b pencil, and a white colored pencil.

Cancellation Policy: We will refund 50% for any cancellation made at least eight days before the class. After 8 days, we are unable to provide refunds for any reason, including illness. If you cannot attend after registration, you are welcome to gift your tuition to a friend at no charge. We do not transfer tuition from one class to another.

Instructor Bio: Arianna is the Depo's resident printmaker, gouache expert, and is now excited to help spread the love for portraits, which have been her favorite subject since high school. Arianna has a degree in education and loves to make art less intimidating for beginners and beyond.
