In this class we will create botanical drawings from observation of live plants. We will use colored pencils to draw realistic 3-dimensional drawings using line, shape, form, color, texture, and space. This class will focus on accuracy as well as visual appeal. The study of botany strenghtens any floral based art. Understanding and identifying parts of a plant will inform even loose impressionistic painting. Botanical drawing focuses on accuracy, communicating the plant's morphology and distinguishing shapes and forms.

Materials to bring or buy, all available at The Depo:

A set of at least 24 art quality pencils (such as Faber Castell Polychromos, Holbein, Prismacolor, Caran d’Ache Luminance or Pablo.

A 2H pencil

A kneaded eraser

Prismacolor pencils, one each: Black Grape (PC996), French Grey 90% (PC1076), Lime Peel (PC 1005).

Drawing Board (at least 13” x 19”)

Tuition includes a variety of papers, solvent, brushes and blenders.

Cancellation Policy: We will refund 50% for any cancellation made at least eight days before the class. After 8 days, we are unable to provide refunds for any reason, including illness. If you cannot attend after registration, you are welcome to gift your tuition to a friend at no charge. We do not transfer tuition from one class to another. For teachers in attendance .6 CEU’s are available.
