Course Description: Join Jules Webster for a fun and informative workshop that will introducethe basics of painting on-site in a garden. In this workshop, Jules will explain how to draw a basic landscape sketch, and paint and draw in basic garden details using watercolor and colored pencil on paper. Students will leave this course with a "loose" garden painting on paper, a small "value sketch," knowledge of how to use watercolor and colored pencil, basic art composition, color theory, instructor made hand-outs, and the skills and courage to try again on their own. We'll also discuss how to select and pack portable art materials to take "on the go." All materials will be provided by the instructor.

The intent of this class is to help familiarize people who would be otherwise scared to draw with tools, papers, and simple guidelines for measurement that will enable people to feel confident enough to start sketching and drawing on their own.

In this class, we will discuss strategies for layering three primary types of water-based paints with one another. Join Depo owner and Jules Webster for a fun and informative class that explains how to utilize the inherent transparency or opacity of various water-based paints to achieve a multidimensional look. How to mix all the products together to achieve custom blends will be demonstrated. We’ll also work with colored pencils to use on top of paint to achieve fine details.
